A weekend at our place

I always used to call Nanny to find out when the next time she was coming over was. I would get excited and ask my dad to make sure i was able to come pick her up with him. On our way to pick Nanny up i would ask how long she was staying and make sure i could plan out every detail about how she would spend her stay. We usually parked our car out front and went up to help her carry her stuff out. No matter how long she stayed she always packed a suitcase, and a red bag which usual container her pills, a heating pad, and some treats for herself for her stay. On our ride home we'd joke about never taking her home. She would say, "i have to vacuum! and water the plants! and the aid is coming on Tuesday!!!!!!" sadly, i knew nanny would always go home when she was supposed to, but we liked to joke with her!

The day Nanny was supposed to go home was always my least favorite day. So much so that when i was little hid her things! I took her keys, sometimes her bag, and once even her cane. I remember she was getting in the car to leave and realized she didn't have her cane. Everyone got mad at me, but if that meant Nanny could stay a little bit longer, it was well worth me getting in trouble. Finally i would see she was starting to get upset, so i located her cane. As we drove her home, i was already planning her next stay over at our house. Again, we parked the car in front to help get her upstairs and settled. Before i left i always took a candy that she only kept in the house for her grandkids. She would ready the TV to watch us walk out, walk us to the door and wait till we got to the very end of the hallway. Once we did, we stopped, turned around and saluted to our Nanny, till next time.

This was how every single pick up and drop off went.
