Clive Desmond Wilson
Clive Desmond Wilson, was born October 19, 1940 in Georgetown, Guyana. Born to Ismay Maynard and Rudolph Yaw, he was one of four children. He departed this life on February 18, 2017 at Mount Vernon, Hospital. He was a “Man’s Man” honorable and humble. As a young man he was a Champion Swimmer, passionate about numbers, and knew that education was key. He attended Christiansburg Grade School from 1946-1952 and Tutorial High School from 1952-1957. He was a member of several organizations including the Masonic Lodge. He majored in Bookkeeping and worked as the “Tax Man”, collecting money from residents in Mackenzie, Guyana.
One day he was visiting relatives and saw Patricia Carmelita Henry- Goriah sweeping steps near her home. He often stated that it was “Love at First Sight”. After a short courtship they married on August 24th 1968. Several weeks later he and his wife moved to the United States of America.
His American Journey started with 2 jobs on the day he arrived and the RCA Electronic Technology program. He was a dedicated employee of 2 full time jobs. After 30 years he retired from the Hospital of Joint Disease as a Surgical Technician. After serving 35 years with the New York City Transit he retired in 2008. Clive and Pat loved retirement, they traveled often and enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. His true hobby was “fixing things….. Anything!” He loved hanging out with Mr. Keith and Uncle Praim. He could often be found at Home Depot or Best Buy buying new gadets. He taught himself to drive at a late age and enjoyed joy-riding with his princess thru the streets of Mount Vernon.
Clive was affectionately known as, Willow or Ole Man. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Wilson; 1 sister, Winifred Crossman; 1 son, Adrian; 3 Daughters, Sonya (Jerome Tarter), Andrea (Eric Brooks) & Antoinette (Jerry MacKay); 4 grandchildren, Ysis, Zara, Soloman and Tyberious; 1 Nephew, Stephan Lebing. He will be missed by Everybody!
