Clare McCormack
Clare Preusse McCormack of Yonkers, NY passed peacefully to her heavenly reward on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Clare was born in Yonkers, NY in 1928 to Otto and Florence Preusse (nee Mandrey.) Clare is survived by her sister, Arlene Gronwoldt, sister-in-law, Patricia McCormack, her devoted children, Maureen Zadorozny (Dave,) Marge O’Brien (Ronan,) Deacon John McCormack (Mary,) James McCormack, Patricia Birmingham (Frank,) Brian McCormack (Erin,) Eileen D’Anna (Mark,) and son-in-law John Fay and daughter-in-law Diane McCormack. Clare had 22 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Clare is pre-deceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Bernard J. McCormack and her beautiful daughter Mary Fay. Clare received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cortland State University, taught briefly as a Physical Education teacher in the Mount Vernon School System and then dedicated her life to raising her 8 children along with the love of her life, Bernie. Clare served in many ministries and was a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Vernon. She was dedicated to her faith, her family and the community in which she lived. The family will receive friends at the Yannantuono Funeral Home on Friday, January 5th from 3pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary’s RC Church on High Street in Mount Vernon on Saturday, January 6th at 10am.
