Obituary for
Herman L. Brown
Herman Louis Brown Sr., of Mount Vernon, passed away on February 14, 2018 at the age of 82. He was born in Marion, OH on April 2, 1935 to Mr. and Mrs. Ardent Brown. Herman graduated from Marion Harding High School in Marion, OH in June 1955. He went on to join the US Army in February 1956 through February 1959. After training, he was stationed at West Point where he met his beloved wife Arlene Ruth Chaplin in April 1957. They were married on May 7, 1960. Herman worked as a butcher for A&P Supermarkets for 24 years while also working part-time at Amoco Oil for 31 years. He then worked and retired after 20 years from the US Postal Service. He faithfully attended the United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, NY. He was an active member in the National Federation of Bible Classes and President of the local Bible Class for many years. For over 48 years he was an active volunteer for the Mount Vernon Fire Dept. (Truck 1). Herman is survived by his three children; Eric L. Brown, Elizabeth B. Rocha (Jose) and Herman L. Brown Jr.(Diana) and five grandchildren; Sahara, Kayla, Victoria, Rebekah and Jason as well as one great grandson Skyler. Herman had three brothers and one sister all who have predeceased him. Family will honor Herman’s life on Tuesday February 20, 2018 from 9:00 – 10:00 am at the First Methodist Church, 227 East Lincoln Ave, Mt Vernon, NY 10552. Funeral Service on Tuesday at 10:00 am also at the First Methodist Church. Interment at Kensico Cemetery.
